We are thrilled to invite you to the planting of Seattle Public Schools' very first Miyawaki-style mini-forest! The event will take place at Robert Eagle Staff Middle School in partnership with Sugi. It will be an incredible opportunity to come together as a community to foster hope, climate resilience, and environmental rejuvenation in our city. Spaces for this landmark event will fill up fast, so be sure to sign up and get your tickets here ASAP.
The Miyawaki method is a revolutionary reforestation technique that rapidly rewilds and restores spaces as small as a parking lot—creating dense, biodiverse native plant habitats that promote soil health, provide wildlife corridors, cool urban heat islands, and sequester more carbon than traditionally planted forests. The healthy competition and collaboration fostered by this dense planting style promotes tree growth up to 10x that of a conventional forest and a plant survival rate of over 90%! Ethan Bryson, American Forest Planter for Sugi, will be leading the event.
Thanks and we hope to see you there!
